AUTHOR | ADVENTURER | COACH

Hello! I'm Mary

I wrote this book for you and your children.

I have been coaching in BC my whole life. Since I was a teen, coaching gymnastics has been my passion. I have coached all levels, ages, and many disciplines, from trampoline to rhythmic, boys, girls, babies to adults.  As a learning facilitator, I am actively teaching the National Coaching Certification Program (Coach training) and the Kids Can Move program in Elementary schools. I am currently the Vice Chair of the board of Gymnastics BC and sit on numerous committees of the board. These are all volunteer commitments as I truly believe in the benefits of sport and particularly, gymnastics. I am also currently the Program Director of a gymnastics club on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

A story to inspire our children.

It is my great privilege and honour to bring you this book to encourage your kids to fall in love with the joy of movement.

From an interest

to a passion

If you or your child has an interest in sports and movement, Molly's experience will help you both know what to expect in any gym.

The growth from getting to know yourself

When our children learn that it's okay to be silly, to wiggle,  to dance and move their bodies, they feel joy. When that joy can be funneled into the structure of learning body positions and basic skills, a fun activity turns into a passion.

Gymnastics as a learning environment

From the gym, children learn about their body and what it's capable of doing. This confidence transfers into all aspects of life as they get older and experience the world. They learn how to keep trying and how to practice to learn new things.

Let my 35 years of experience guide you

It is my joy and privilege to teach gymnastics. My 35 years of dedicated experience are yours to glean in this easy to read and fun book, devoted to parents and kids alike who want to move!

Wherever we go -

There we are.

All over the world, young children are inspired to move and play. When we can apply some structure to that inspiration and create a positive learning environment we generate the skills and confidence to build healthy, well rounded people.

Encouraging participation in sport activities, promotes physical and mental wellness.

What could you and your child learn?

The joy of movement

When our children are physically confident in moving their bodies, the world is their playground.

The rewards of effort

Learning takes time, and we encourage progress and effort, not perfection.

Safety

Feeling safe is a cornerstone of gymnastics coaching, when our kids feel safe, they can thrive.

Trust the process

It is all about being physically challenging and developing physical literacy!

What our readers are saying...

Thank you to my early readers and supporters who encouraged me to write this book.

"Excellent book, highly recommend

I just ordered a couple of books for Christmas gifts.  I find it hard to find great gymnastics books that cater to the young. My nephew is just trying out the sport and this book is great for him. It is very easy to read and highlights being able to move. Love the illustrations."

"Molly Loves to Move" is a great introduction to the vocabulary and expectations of a gym. Fun and facts together give reassurance to a beginner gymnast.

“Molly Loves to Move is such a cute book. It accurately depicts what it’s like to be in a gymnastics class. I love that the Author uses both fun names and the real names to describe the gymnastics movements. My daughter also loves the books and wants to take it with us everywhere to let kids know what gymnastics is like. A book definitely worth reading.”

This book is definately a must read. One thing that I loved about this book when I was reading it to my niece is that it brought you into the story to the point that it got my niece asking questions about Molly and the different things she does like pike and the motor bike. It’s a great introduction to gymnastics especially for the little ones not to mention the art work that portrays the story is spot on!
